Thaci: Let’s hold debates in Parliament, not on the streets

The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, asked the Self-Determination
Movement and its leader to be more responsible for their acts and
discuss the political events in Parliament through debate, rather than
through street violence.

Speaking on a press conference, one day after the protest in Prishtina, where the Self-Determination Movement clashed with the Police, causing tensions and many wounded, Thaci declared that this event has deeply shocked him.

“This is not the first time that the lost debates in Parliament aim to be replaced in the street. Besides the electoral interests, we must keep in mind the responsibility for the future of the country and of our children. I invite you to show maturity for a responsible behaviour and love for our country”, Thaci declared.

Thaci added that if a political force wants to hold a protest, they must as permission from the police, which would guarantee the security of the participants.

This Monday’s protest came as a reaction after the meeting of the Prime Minister Hashim Thaci with the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dacic.

The authorities used tear gas to disperse the crowd, which was throwing solid objects and paint against the Police.

Among the arrested were the MPs Liburn Aliu and the SD leader, Albin Kurti. Police explained that there was no notification for the protest and that the activists have tried to force themselves into the state objects. SD published the photos of the wounded MP Liburn Aliu.
