The construction of a sportive gym, together with a trade center, and
the renewal of the old sportive gym “Minatori”, aims to break the
barricades established on the Iber River and unite all young citizens
with ethnic distinctions.
The space that has been chosen for the constructing of the sportive gym is usable by both Albanian and Serbian people, since both communities are geographically near.
The first brick of the construction works was symbolically placed at the Mitrovica Park.
Prime Minister Thaci declared that the investments in Mitrovica will reach 50 million EUR. He mentioned the renewal of the Olimpic “Adem Jashari” Stadium, where the first friendly match of Kosovo’s national team will be held.
The project goes to 23 million EUR, and is expected to end by 2014. 11 million EUR have been financed by the European Commission, while the rest comes from the local government.
The implementation of this project was considered as important as people on both sides were told that they should leave prejudices behind and overcome all problems for a better future.
