The Kosovo Prime Minister, Hashim Thaci, declared in a press conference
that tomorrow will start the operation for turning border checkpoints 1
and 31 to functionality.

He emphasized that the plan was created by the Kosovo Government, in cooperation with the United States, the European Union, NATO and EULEX.

“Kosovo Police and Customs agents, together with EULEX and NATO will start the operation for turning border checkpoints no. 1 and 31 to functionality. This operation was planned by the Government of Kosovo, in coordination with the United States, the European Union, NATO and EULEX. I have publicly received the support of the relevant international factors. Together with you, we have put our trust to the common success and the full support of our international partners”, Thaci declared.

“Therefore, I invite you today to preserve calm and maturity. Tomorrow’s operation in Northern Kosovo is not against anyone or any ethnic group. The operation is not a conflict against the citizen, but against the illegality. Kosovo government is the best guarantee for the citizens’ rights, also to those who live in north. I invite all of them to live equally and respect our decisions. No one needs to be concerned. No citizen, in all territory of Kosovo. These are our efforts for law and order”, the Prime Minister declared.

“Dear citizens, as Prime Minister, I pray for your understanding. I guarantee you that we will not step back. The integration of Northern Kosovo will be a process with many challenges, but I am sure that all of us as citizens and together with the democratic world, we will make it with success. We have too much work to do, starting from the judicial courts and other services. I guarantee you that we will never stop working for fully extending law and order”, Thaci declared.
