Tense dialogue in Parliament after Berisha and Brace debates

The situation in the Albanian Parliament was tense after a verbal
conflict between MP Erjon Brace and Sali Berisha. The Parliament
Speaker, Ilir Meta, was forced to interrupt the session. The Democrats
demanded a meeting of the Parliamentary Bureau for measures against
Erjon Brace.

Meta said that the Bureau would meet after the Parliament, while the Democratic Party MPs insisted for it to gather immediately. In the meanwhile, Brace was waiting in the podium to finish his speech.

The situation deteriorated after Berisha and Brace insulted each other with offensive words.

“Edi Rama keeps you as slaves tied with the crime. He has had two meetings, together with the Chief of Police, but I will not the name of the cafe, because I don’t want to turn it into the symbol of evil. Do you know that Shullazi is traveling to the USA before Rama arrives there? He is blocking the justice reform because he doesn’t want it”, Berisha said.

He accused the majority of stealing the funds for 930 meters of road in the Lin village.

The opposition and the majority seem to have found common ground as regards the requests of the Democratic Party for sending the mandates of MPs Valentina Leskaj and Rakip Suli at the Albanian Parliament.

The Democratic Parliamentary Group leader, Edi Paloka, said that although the majority has decided to withdraw from the violation of the Constitution, the Parliament is still in crisis until the voting of these acts.

“The majority has decided to withdraw from the violation of the Constitution and implement the decisions. This is what we have asked for a long time, although this Parliament postponed it to this point. Until the voting of these acts is done, the Parliament keeps being in a constitutional crisis. For this reason, since we have the understanding of the majority, I say that we must include this in today’s agenda and vote the requests”, Paloka said.

The Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, said that the Council of Mandates will gather this Monday and will vote next Thursday.

The Parliament passed with 69 votes in favor the Presidential Decree for reviewing the Audiovisual Media Authority.

The President returned the law on April 1st for the law amends related to the Public Television, saying that the law limited its independence.
