Telemedicine in Albania

With the help of USAID, the Health Ministry has built the first telemedicine center at the Shkoder REgional Hospital.

In the inauguration ceremony was present the Health Minister, Vangjel Tavo, and the American Ambassador, Alexander Arvizu.

“The Health Ministry has supported this initiative and the vision that was introduced by prof. Rifat Latifi, and generously supported by USAID which brought to our dispositions the best equipments”, Tavo declared.

“We  are aware that there are urgent needs throughout the country as regards medical help, and these needs are even more important in the remote areas. The best thing of this investment is the connection of this hospital with that of Tirana. Shkoder is a big district, with 250.000 residents, and this investment will help them”, the US Ambassador declared.

The Humanitarian Aid Office of the American Headquarters for Europe have supplied 166.000 USD for this project, and it was coordinated by the USAID and the Health Ministry.
