Technology in elections

The Socialist Party declared that the agreement for the technology that
will be used in the next elections has gone beyond any deadline.

The secretary or electoral cases for the SP, Damian Gjiknuri, declared for Top Channel that they have had the data of the Spanish company, and the Central Election Commission is signing them only now.

“CEC had the documents ready since October 2012 and only on January 2013 they started the tender. Someone has to be held accountable for this, and the government is responsible for delaying this process to the most extreme deadlines”, Gjiknuri declared.

Besides technology, a major concern is the voters’ list procedure. Gjiknuri says that the Interior Ministry is delaying it and there are suspicions that there are duplicated names.

The secretary for the electoral issues at the biggest party of the opposition says that the electoral process would be saved if the highest electoral institution will take in consideration the appeals of the international factor and the reports made by the OSCE and NDI to gain independence from the government and to implement the law.

“CEC will still be an essential part of the elections. We guarantee the public that their progress will depend on the participation and the work made by the Commission, and SP is working daily on this matter”, Gjiknuri added.
