“Different to the other procedures, with tenders in every education directory, now all lines will be licensed ones. The teachers will give the tickets and take the money on the end of the month. This is for the teachers that travel more than 5 km away, and for children that travel more than 2 km away. For the others there will be a tender”, declared Florian Nurcaj, responsible for the budget sector at the Ministry of Education.

The tenders will be held in the areas where there is no public transportation. The official data indicate that 10.000 out of 12.000 teachers will have to travel with the lines that will come out of the tender.

On the other hand, the Ministry has as priority the employment of young teachers who live in school areas.

“There are teachers from Baldushk, who have received master degrees and are ready to work, and who can replace teachers from Tirana and other districts. This is a priority and there will be no need for Tirana teachers to travel to Kukes, as it used to be years ago”, Nurcaj explained.

Albania has around 12.000 teachers that travel more than 5 kilometers for reaching the schools, and 23.000 students. In most of the schools, the teachers refuse to give interviews, since they fear losing their jobs.
