Taxes make Permet businesses fail

40 small production businesses in Permet and Kelcyre have reduced their activity recently.

Some say that the main reasons that impede them from expanding then activity are the taxes, the unequal treatment in market, where dozens of businesses operate without licenses, and the lack of government support for improving technology.

A dairy producer in Kelcyre says that they are also facing the state negligence when inspecting the suppliers. The farmers are not obliged to analyze their products, which brings problems in the sector.

A producer of alcoholic drinks says that this area has a series of concerns, due to the facts that the business is not represented in the decision making structures, there are no unions and there is not enough promotion for the domestic goods.

Despite the increasing number of small producing businesses that operate in the food sector, none of the dairy products, drinks, sweets or conserved foods does not fulfill the standards for export. Further cleaning of the packages need more serious investments, which have not been promoted by any official initiative in a market that operates in artisan conditions.
