The intensive works that have started for the construction of the TAP
pipeline has increased the efforts of Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina and
Croatia for another important project, the IAP.
The Ministers of these four countries met in Budva, Montenegro, where they agreed for creating a project management unit with representation from SOCAR, the Azerbaijani state owned oil company, TAP shareholder.
“Representatives of gas companies and of respective ministries will create a project management unit that will have SOCAR from Azerbaijan as a member, to promote the project”, said the Albanian Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri.
According to him, the interest for the Ionian Adriatic Pipeline is growing, and the progress with TAP has made it more feasible.
“Montenegro is completing the gas master plan. Albania too. Croatia has advanced. Thi means that the request is being matured, slowly. Soon, all countries will have demands in dedicated amounts, and this makes the project even more feasible. The countries have taken an important decision to create a concrete unit, tp speak with the EU commission institutions and to discuss with possible investors”, Gjiknuri said.
The IAP is not just a project anymore, since Minister noticed more attention from companies during this meeting.
