Jorida Tabaku from the Democratic Party said they have evidence that the government has turned Albania into an unfriendly terrain for foreign investors.
“US and German reports want lower taxes, quicker procedures and less frequent law amends. This government has changed tax laws more than 40 times in three years, making any investor leave the country. This is why Foreign Direct Investments have dropped with 42% during the first trimester of 2016, compared to the first trimester of 2015. These factors came to my mind after reading the militant-type reaction of the Minister of Economy”, Tabaku said.
Tabaku raises questions about the investors who want to take 1700 hectares of public and private lands for building a new port. “Why was the company sold to Singapore just two days before the law passed in Parliament? Why is the land of 220 owners being negotiated?”, she said.
“Star Bridge Port Limited appears on the British information center for companies as a sleeping company from 2013 to 2016, without any activity during this period. How is it possible that a company that has spent millions of Euros in similar acts, hands over such a financial balance in Britain?”, the Democratic Party MP asked.
“On the other hand, the company that purchased it has its headquarters in Singapore, and they have no information on internet for the works done son far. This raises questions not only on the Star Bridge Port Limited company, but also on its relations with other serious companies. Can a serious company be sold to a ghost company that has only one address in Singapore? How is it possible that a serious company, which has spent millions, has no specified projects on their website?”, Tabaku continues.
“How is it possible that all British websites show that the structure of the company which is claimed as serious in the construction area, seems very poor, nothing close to a company that is about to spend 5 billion EUR, 1/5th of the amount used for TAP? This huge investment will be realized by a company that doesn’t have a single employee, just a Board of Directors Can we talk about negotiations when we have no concrete plans and no official data as regards the that made the proposition?”, Tabaku said.
She says this negotiation project is as transparent as the one about the building of the new national stadium, which had a tower in it.
“None of the serious companies mentioned by the Ministry has ever been to Albania. No serious offer has arrived for this project. This is why there are so many questions”, Tabaku declared.
According to her, the Democratic Party greets and supports every foreign investor that decides to come to Albania. “Same as we value TAP, which is today the only source of economic growth in our country. But giving 1700 hectares to companies that have just one post address is not normal in any country, let alone one that inspires to be part of the EU”, Tabaku said.
