Syrians turning their eyes towards the Albanian border for their EU route

After the tragedy at the Greek-Macedonian border, where three Syrian
refugees passed away trying to cross the border illegally, more of them
are turning their eyes to Albania for continuing their route towards the
EU.

Contacted by Top Channel, refugees in Konitsa said that the path across Albania might be their only hope.

“Some wanted to go to Macedonia after we heard the border was open, but we learned later of about what had happened and about the conditions our patriots are having there. We are afraid to take that road, because we don’t have many hopes. As we said, we will wait for March 18th and if nothing will be done about our fate, we will walk into Albania. We hope the Albanian authorities will help us continue to Europe without problems”, said a Syrian refugee on a phone connection.

The situation in the Konitsa camp is calm, with the hope of better news.
