Swoboda: Berisha must leave

“First of all I am very happy to meet Edi Rama once again, as we have done in the last six months. I see in him the opposition leader and the future Prime Minister of Albania. This is my message. You must do everything possible to change the country’s orientation. Berisha and his government have blocked the integration negotiations for many years and people should be motivated to vote”, Swoboda declared, guaranteeing that the European Parliament would observe the elections of June 23rd carefully.

“We will do everything possible to supervise the elections and guarantee a correct voting, all according to the law, because we want free and correct elections for once in Albania, and we want the citizens’ vote to change the country’s direction, to really fight corruption and fight for a social cohesion. It is very important and the citizens should use this opportunity to vote”, the European MP declared.

Swoboda released this declaration after meeting with the opposition leader, Edi Rama, at the European Parliament in Brussels. The Albanian Socialist leader declared that Europe will guarantee free elections in Albania.  

“It is more than clear that there is a very special awareness in the international community, and all political parties have turned their eyes on Albania, political parties and institutions alike, to guarantee change through vote; to guarantee that the Albanians will be able to continue their integration path with the government that has come from the free vote, a government that will change the country’s path”, Rama declared.

“It is clearer each day why Albania has stalled, who is to blame and why Albania needs to return to its European path through free votes and elections that divide this past from the future, a future that is just behind that door”, Rama declared.
