The government of Switzerland has offered a 2.2 million Swiss Frang grant for managing solid waste in Berat.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, signed the agreement with the Swiss Ambassador to Tirana, Cristoph Graf, and four representatives of the district municipalities.
“Albania faces huge issues as regards treatment of inert materials. I want to make it clear that this project helps to create a concrete example of how waste materials can be managed in Albania. The project will have a very specific regional focus, but if succeeds, it may be used in other regions as well”, Cristoph Graf declared.
