Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future 300 hectares of agricultural land at the Maliq Field are turning into a
swamp due to the malfunctioning of the drainage channels.
150 farmers have raised the alarm for the current situation of the lands, some of which have been regularly flooded in the last years.
According to the farmer, not only they have not been able to yield the production of what they planted in autumn, due to the humidity, but they also have not been able to purify the seeds that they have bought for replacing the crops that have been destroyed.
The Libonik Commune specialists clarify that this situation comes as result of the unification of the Dunavec and Devoll rivers, which, in absence of the drainage channels, flood the entire are of crops.
Despite the measures taken by the commune for managing the situation, the problematic for these farmers have turned into a long line of problems that are being repeated year after year, while waiting for the respective instances to interfere.
