Supreme State Audit against CEZ-Government settlement

The Supreme State Audit asked the Supreme Court to investigate the settlement that closed the conflict between the Czech Company and the Albanian
government.

Since the Prosecution General suspended the investigations on June, the SSA opposes this by saying that the Prosecution has not investigated the report thoroughly, and the Albanian government has suffered 470 million EUR of damage.

Lawyers say the investigations are incomplete for as long as the additional documentation had not been administered.

Prosecutor Arben Kaja, who investigated the file, insisted that investigations proved that the Albanian government has not suffered any economic damage, and that they have found only traces of power abuse, cases for which they had informed the Minister of Energy and the State Advocacy leader.

However, SSA law experts say that after interrogating 14 members of the negotiation group, they suspect that the Minister of Energy has not been questioned by the Prosecution. The Prosecutor rejected this claim, saying that they have even interrogated other officials.

After hearing the parties and the lawyers of Hicka and Gjiknuri, the court withdrew for the decision which will be declared on October 24th.
