The city of Elbasan celebrated the Summer Day today from the early
hours. Hundreds of visitors from all Albanian regions chose this city to
celebrate it.
The Municipality had prepared various activities while shops were full of “ballakume”, the traditional sweet that is made especially for this day.
Youth started celebrations even earlier, waiting the Summer Day in its first hours of the night, during a concert organized in the city center.
The restaurants and bars were full of people celebrating this traditional holiday that dates from pagan times.
In the city of Elbasan it has been especially preserved for centuries, until it was finally declared a national holiday.
