
Same as their brothers throughout the world, the Bektashi devotees in Albania have celebrated today the Sultan Nevruz Day.
On this day is celebrated the birthday of Imam Ali, known by the Bektashi devotees as the day of the great rebirth. World’s Haji Baba Edmond Brahimaj declared that the Sultan Nevrus is a new day, when all humans pray to God, and their love for God, peace and goodness is amplified.
This is recognized as the day of the Bektashi nobelty. The devotees start the day with best wishes for good luck, well being and peace.
A traditional food on this day is the pie with a hidden coin in it. The housewife prays for the members of the family and cuts the pie in equal portions for all the family members, and the luckiest one will have the portion with the coin.
The Albanian President, Bamir Topi, visited the World’s Holy See of the Bektashi in Tirana.
“The first wish goes for the Bektashi devotees, who celebrated this special day that symbolizes the resurrection. This is a day of hope and makes each of us having a moment of refreshment, resurrection that comes not only with nature, but also with the beautiful symbolic of this day. It is a celebration of all Albanians who want freedom, democracy and the future”, President Topi declared.
The Parliament Speaker, Jozefina Topalli, wished a happy Nevruz to all Bektashi devotees.
“I wish a happy Sultan Nevruz to all devotees. This coincides with the day of democracy, and we have the possibility to celebrate today and thank every Albanian for what they have done in these 20 years”, the Parliament Speaker declared.
The Socialist leader visited the Holy See and wished all Bektashi devotees a happy Nevruz day, adding that he hopes for this day to bring good luck to all Albanians.
“I want to wish a happy Nevruz to all the Bektashi community, and we hope that this will be a lucky day for today, because for the days to come I am sure that will be good”, Rama underlined.
