Without receiving the indemnities for last year’s floods, dozens of
businesses in the Sub Shkoder area have been damaged again by the heavy
snow of these days, causing some of them to file for bankruptcy.

Anton Jaku, one of the many people in the Dajc commune who had invested all his emigration earned money in Albania, is losing his decorative tree growing business. He says that the floods, the lack of indemnities by the flood and the snow of this year obliged him to file for bankruptcy.

“I filed for bankruptcy yesterday. After investing for six years in Albania all the money that I had earned working in Italy went in vain”, Jaku declares.

The Dajc commune is the biggest in the Subshkoder area, and 70% of their population lives by family businesses that grow decorative trees. This business has turned into a tradition and the bread and butter for the Dajc commune.

Like this business, there are many others in the Dajc commune. After the floods of one year ago, the snow has brought the Sub Shkoder residents to the knees. Many of them have filed bankruptcy, after the snow destroyed their entire business and they have not been paid yet for the damages that were caused by the floods of one year ago.
