Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future The student’s movements of 8 December 1990, that overthrew the communist
regime in Albania, have turned into a day of appreciation for the youth
and its role in the country’s development.
The Albanian Youth Council and the Ministry of Culture gathered the youth at the “Palace of Congresses” for an activity dedicated to this day.
“Few are the days that will have an equal weight to this in the history of our country. This is not only the Day of Youth, but it is also the day of pluralism, the day of a great renaissance of this nation. December 8th symbolizes a very important monument in our national history”, declared the Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Aldo Bumci.
Among the guests was the head of the EU Political Sector in Albania.
“It has been proved and it is still being proved that nothing big can be realized without the contribution of the youth. Without the youth, a country remains in stagnation. Considering the youth percentage in this country, it is impossible for the Albanian society to remain in stagnation”, declared Clive Rumbold, head of the EU Political Sector in Albania.
Part of this activity was an exhibition with photos, dedicated to the positive effect of the youth in times of big changes and today.
The “Active Youth” NGO raised some stands in the streets of Tirana, to promote their campaign “Give your contribution”. This campaign that is being held for more than one year, aims to collect funds for helping the people and communities in need.
