The hunger strike coordinator, Skender Tufa, asked the diplomatic
representations in Tirana to help them continue their protest in their
premises, accusing the police of pressuring the people inside the strike
and their supporters.

Tufa declared that the conditions are very difficult under this pressure, offence and verbal violence.

Speaking for the media on the 28th day, Tufa reiterated that the compensation for the former members of the communist party were given when the Socialist government was led by Ilir Meta, whose party is in the governing coalition.

Meanwhile, the protesters in the tent entered the 28th day of the hunger strike. The police have asked them to leave, after the Court issued the order, but has not intervened. While their health situation is deteriorating, the strikers are determined to continue the protest.

German Ambassador: Dialogue must start

The German ambassador in Tirana, Carola Müller-Holtkemper, asked the Albanian government to find a solution for the strike, and appealed for dialogue to start.

“The former political prisoners have suffered during the communist regime, and now is the time for their voice to be heard and receive what they deserve. The Albanian government must sit and dialogue with them. We have passed this situation in Germany, since we also had persecuted people from the regime. I know this situation, but we gave the right solution to it”, declared the German ambassador, who was visiting Pogradec for inspecting the realization of some projects for the aqueduct, paid with funds from the German government.
