On the 26th day of the hunger strike, the political prisoners warned to
sacrifice one of them if the government will not participate to sit and
negotiate. Striker Afrim Biturku declared that it will not be in sign of
pressure against the government, but the pride and respect towards each
other and the political class they represent.
“We have one piece of paper with a hole in it, and seven others without a hole. We will cast lots. It might be only one, but even seven at once. This is not a moral pressure, but pride, an appeal to all politicians and European countries where the law has always worked”, Afrim Biturku declared.
The coordinator of the strike, Skender Tufa, warned the replacement of the strike if the police will intervene.
“We’ll move our tent near the US Embassy. This decision aims to protect our security, since we are facing pressures and threats. Ambassador Arvizu is a great friend of our country. We know that the US cannot intervene in our matters, and we cannot have a solution from them. All we need from the US is to support our strike, our human view and human rights”, Tufa declared.
Tension rose this Wednesday after the Tirana Court ruled in favor of the police to disperse the strike for security reasons.
The police says that based on the law of manifestations, they will implement the court order as soon as they will receive it in an official way.
