Ombudsman Igli Totozani visited the hunger strikers and declared that
their situation has deteriorated because they have not been allowed to
keep fluids, serums and medicine.

“After a few days it will be 10 months that I work as Ombudsman, and in these 10 months I have seen many problems, but there has never been a more painful visit than this. It convinced me that similar situation should not be repeated”, Totozani declared.

“I was updated with the problems of the strikers, and they have not been allowed to keep fluids, serums and medicine. We wrote a letter to the Chief of Police, asking the police to allow fluids, medicine, the relatives and the media inside the tent. This has been prohibited today”, the Ombudsman underlined.

Totozani appealed the people who gave this order to withdraw it as soon as possible. “Whoever has given this order must be careful, and I’m saying this in a friendly way, because this order is an extremity of the human degradation”, Totozani declared.

The Ombudsman reminded that such an order has been condemned by the international conventions and he appealed for dialogue. “This act has been condemned by the EU conventions. I am asking everyone to reduce tensions, and let the calmness and cold blood start a constructive dialogue”, Totozani declared.
