The European Court of Human Rights is reviewing 89 lawsuits against the
Albanian government for property compensation. The figures were made
public by the Property Treatment Agency and the State Advocacy.
Sources from these institutions say for Top Channel that the owners’ claims for compensation reach a total of 500 million EUR, 5% of the GDP. But the Strasbourg Court has 400 other lawsuits registered by owners, who are waiting to see if they will be taken for a review.
The Strasbourg Court has given 15 million EUR of fines against the Albanian government only for the past four months.
