Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future
“The European Commission refused to open the negotiations for Albania’s
EU membership, due to the constant political stalemate”, declared the EU
ambassador in Tirana, Ettore Sequi, who presented the progress-report
of the European Commission.
The EU diplomat underlined that Albania lacked of political and constructive dialogue. and the parties have used conflict rhetoric.
“The European Commission remains committed in Albania’s EU perspective, but your country must fulfill the same conditions and reforms as the other countries that today are EU members or candidates. In particular, the reforms regarding the EU and the 12 key priorities should have been undertaken”, Sequi declared.
The ambassador declared that Albania has all possibilities for fulfilling the standards, but for this are needed complete preparations through the cooperation between the opposition and the government.
“Albania must join forces towards one single goal, which is the EU integration”, Sequi declared.
During this declaration, the ambassador mentioned what the EU Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule had declared earlier the day, that there have been positive signals for dialogue and for having a cooperation level that would make this process advance.
