Vlore prosecution started the investigations for the pollution of
the Zvernec beach, where at least one ton of fuel ingredients were
spilled into the sea water.
After verifying the pollution level on the beach, the inspectorate of the Environmental Ministry filed a suit at the prosecution. The investigators have raised their suspicions on one ship that might have spilled the “solar” oil ingredient at sea, and are waiting the scientific results to see if the substance that was found inside the ship matches with the one at sea.
The authorities took samples even from other ships that sail around Zvernec. Meanwhile, the cleaning team has started to work in the polluted coastline. Besides removing the “solar” substance, the team will also clean the sand around the beach. This action was undertaken by the Ministry of Environment.
The news panicked the holiday-makers who left Zvernec due to the high level of the pollution. The situation today is slightly better, but it is still concerning for the visitors.
