Standard of living in Albania

According to EUROSTAT, the cost of living in Albania is half as the
average level in the European countries, while with the buying power
standard and the income per capita are 31% of the EU average.

Leaving only Bosnia behind, Albania is the second poorest country in Europe, and it is second for the lowest prices, right after Macedonia and at the same level with Bulgaria. The EU office for statistics published the Price Index for Consumption Goods and Services for 2011 of EU members and EU aspiring countries.

The list is headed by Denmark, as the most expensive country, with 142%. The cheapest country is Macedonia, with 45%, when 100% is considered the average of the EU countries. The lowest indicators in Albania are noted in the sector of hotels, restaurants, alcohol and tobacco, respectively 42% and 50% of the European average.

Bread, meat, dairy products, fruits, vegetables and soft drinks result more expensive, 70% of the EU average. For the clothes it is 72%, for bicycles and personal motorized vehicles it is 99% and for electronic devices it is 108% more than the EU average.
