Speaker Veseli gathers Kosovo leaders to discuss dialogue with Serbia

The representatives of the opposition parties were invited as well, but they chose to ignore the meeting. President Thaci made appeals for Unity.

“The process is led by the EU, but I think that Kosovo and the entire region will also have a different stance after the letter from the US President, Donald Trump, who invited us to take our responsibilities as well. I am convinced that the will of Kosovo’s institutions will be aligned with the advice of the USA, so that we can bring the process to an end, and conclude the aspirations of Kosovo for NATO and the EU. This unity is an appeal to those who hesitate, so that they can join us and take their responsibilities”, Thaci said.

Shpend Ahmeti, leader of the Social-Democratic Party and Mayor of Prishtina, underlined that it is necessary to have a unified stance in these negotiations.

Prime Minister Haradinaj and Speaker Kadri Veseli were on the same line. The parties of the opposition rejected the negotiating team that was approved without their vote. The Democratic League and Self-Determination Movement sent a letter to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Federica Mogherini, asking the EU to not recognize this team.
