The Parliament Speaker of Albania, Ilir Meta, declared during the
conference “Challenges of Ombudsman Institutions facing mixed migratory
fluxes” that human rights should be protected in a national and
international level, and this should be the priority of civilian and
state institutions.
“Albania is determined with its path towards the EU integration. We have made it clear that our country doesn’t believe in building walls. Regional and international actors must make every effort so that the actions undertaken so far implement the standards and obligations of human rights”, Meta declared.
He underlined that the Parliament of Albania sees the Ombudsman as the main independent institution that defends the human rights of citizens.
