The Special Prosecutor’s Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) announced today that it has requested a trial for Edison Memolla, the mayor of Rrogozhina in central Albania.
Memolla, of the socialists in power, is accused of committing the criminal offense “Active corruption in elections” carried out in cooperation, while along with him, the investigations have been completed and three other defendants have been sent to trial.
This criminal proceeding was recorded after the broadcast on television networks of an audio recording, where citizen Edison Memolla – candidate for Mayor of Rrogozhinë, influences citizen Blerim Xhamani – electrician at the Durrës public services agency, Rrogozhinë branch, not to cut off the electricity to a debtor subscriber, with the aim of voting in his favor in the partial local elections of 06.03.2022.
He also discussed with the defendant Blerim Xhamani about employment in the Rrogozhin Municipality in exchange for the vote.
The other defendant, Ndriçim Tafxhafa, has promised a citizen to ‘sort out’ her electricity bills and housing, asking her to vote in favor of a certain candidate, in the partial local elections that will be held in Rrogozhin on 06.03. .2022.
Also, the defendants Blerim Xhamani and Isuf Tosku have falsified the data in the energy register, so as not to cot off the electricity supply of the preferred debtor subscriber.
