Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Former politically persecuted prisoners of the notorious Spac prison and
the relatives of those who lost their lives in this prison have
commemorated the anniversary of the famous revolt.
Hundreds of prisoners of this forced labor camp fought the police and raised the red and black flag, without the communist star. The prisoners of 1973 returned to the site where they lost their youth.
Other political prisoners expressed their revolt that even after so many years, their rights have not been granted and the former politically persecuted prisoners and their families are being mistreated.
This revolt was commemorated together with the children of the former political prisoners who suffered or lost their lives in this prison.
The Spac revolt was the beginning of the resistance and war for freedom. Many of those who refused to accept the communist regime were fusilladed or hanged without a trial.
