SP selects delegates

Under the motto “One member, one vote”, the Socialist Party is ready to
start selecting the 800 delegates who will participate at the congress
of November 5th. There are 385 electoral units throughout Albania, where
the voting process will be made.

The material base has been sent to the Socialist branches in all districts. Socialist MP Sajmir Tahiri tells about the importance of this process.

“Since the recent changes in the status of the Socialist Party, in which is decided that the Party leader and the congress delegates – the highest decision making forum of the Socialist Party – will be chosen by the principle “one member, one vote”, all Socialist Party members are invited to vote tomorrow and express their will for the delgates of the Socialist Party Congress. They must give their vote for the political program of the Socialist Party and the status reform. These two are very important elements: the first is related with the path that will be followed until the next elections, the principles and values that we share as Socialists and progressists, while the reforms in the status have to do with the way how we will be organized and what assets will we use for going to the next elections and winning them”, Tahiri declared.

One important point for the congress is the approval of the political program.

“We have established two groups with the best experts from the Socialist Party and other supporters who are working not only with the reforming of the status, but also with the organizing reform, together with the construction of an all inclusive political program, which must be at the same time ambitious for the future. The work will end within the deadline, for leaving time to the delegates to study both documents”, Tahiri declared.

The voting starts tomorrow at 08:00 and ends at 16:00. There are 1500 delegates in the congress who will vote for the new assembly of the Socialist Party.
