SP: Reduce fuel tax

The Socialist Party proposed the government to reduce fuel taxes for
facilitating the Albanian families that are struck by the crisis.

“Carbon tax should be removed. Since the VAT on petroleum has been doubled in world markets, we can reduce it when it is used for public transport, for heating systems in schools and hospitals, for agriculture and fishing”, declared the Socialist MP Mimi Kodheli.

She declared that compared to 2005, the Albanians pay 340 million USD more taxes per year.

The recent tax increase that the government ordered this summer will have destructive effects for the families.

But the Minister of Finances declared that the government is collecting more taxes not because they have increased, but for another reason.

“You used to pass 275.000 tons of fuels in the Customs, now there are 450.000 tons. You traded 320.000 tons of fuels, now are being traded 650.000 tons”, Bode declared.

Bode pretends that the citizens will not pay more taxes to the state after the recent changes, but on the contrary.

The government removed the import tax for used cars, replacing them with a yearly tax that is paid during the technical check, and another tax of 8.4 ALL per liter on fuels.
