Besides organizing the homage for the four victims of January 21st, the
meeting of the Socialist leader, Edi Rama, with the secretaries of the
party, has served for the approving of an agenda on which will be
supported the work of the Socialists for 2012.

The material that will be presented to the National Assembly foresees the Socialist stances for a series of issues. Besides their position for the electoral and parliamentary reform, another special point of the agenda is that about the election of the new President.

As the document underlines, the vision of the Socialist Party for this post, is not a matter of special names, but the election of a candidate with a special profile that would guarantee the consensus that the Constitution requires, which considers the Head of the State as a symbol of national unity.

On the same time, for being transparent with the public, SP will be ready to offer a candidate for President that will be elected through a process similar to the Ombudsman.

The Socialists predict that the conditions, the criteria and the procedures will be different, given the significance of the post. However, it is still early to give premade formulas, when the Socialists’ position apparently will depend on that of the majority, which has clearly stated that the President will be elected only with their votes.

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, met his allies today and focused on the electoral reform.

“We discussed about the system. The opposition agrees on the need for a national proportional system, but naturally, the opposition will continue to contribute with its representatives in order to have this request realized, without becoming an obstacle for the realization of other processes”, Prec Zogaj declared.

On the opposition meeting were present all members, except Vangjel Dule, the leader of the Unity for Human Reforms Party.
