SP proposes Meksi for Bank Supervision Council

The Socialist Party will propose Ermelinda Meksi as member of the Bank of Albania Supervision Council.

Ermelinda Meksi is one of the main figures of the Socialist Party, with a rich political career in governing, holding five ministerial posts as Minister of Integration in the “Nano” government.

If elected by the Parliament, Mrs. Meksi will leave the MP mandate and will be replaced by the son of the former Socialist MP, Fatmir Xhindi, who was killed in 2009.

The Democratic Party has proposed the Tirana University Rector, Dhori Kule, a current DP member in the Tirana Municipal Council. The Socialist Movement for Integration has proposed Ela Golemi.

According to article 44.2, all members of the Supervision Council will be elected and nominated by the Parliament. Five members will be proposed by the Parliament, three by the Council of Ministers, and one from the Supervisory Council. The Albanian President decrees the Governor of Bank of Albania, based on the proposition of the head of the Council of Ministers.

The Supervision Board of Bank of Albania elects and assigns the vice Governors, based on the propositions made by the Governor.

The Government has proposed Ardian Fullani, Elisabeta Gjoni and Petraq Milo as members of this council. Fullani is running for the second mandate which continues for seven years. The Parliament is expected to vote the six candidates for the council, while three others, Halit Xhafa, Ardian Civici and Arjan Kadare will continue their work, because their mandate is not over.
