SP opposes law amends for disabled

The Parliament approved with 66 votes in favor and 62 against the new
law for the Status of Blind Peoepl, and the amends for the Invalidity
Status law.

The opposition MPs were against these amends that according to them damaged the rights to which this category had been granted by law. All parties admit that the CEZ lists are artificially inflated, doubling the number of people who are registered as with limited capabilities.

“The solution is simple, if you have the good will. Liberate the scheme from corruption, clean the abusive lists for your militants, the people who pay bribes by damaging the disabled people. The abusing is very high. It is a crime to pay with the money of the disabled people, and crime gets punished. The amends that we see today are not punishing the abusers, but the blind, paraplegic and all disabled people”, declared the Socialist MP, Valentina Leskaj.

When the MPs were entering the Parliament room for discussing the law, hundreds of disabled people protested in defense of their rights.

The amends will change the compensation law, by giving to the government the right to decide it, rather then setting it by law.

This was opposed by this category, since they fear that they will be paid less. The government is now undertaking the task to reduce the lists by removing the abusers.

The CEZ Company list of disabled people is two times bigger than the total number of the people in this category, for which they receive money from the government.
