SP: No vote only for the eyes of Brussels

The Socialists made the first step for normalizing the relations with
the majority by approving the meetings with the government MPs for the
electoral reform.

The Socialist leader, Edi Rama, asked the Parliamentary Group to mandate MPs Gjiknuri and Hysi to sit and dialogue with the majority. However, Rama declared that this is the first step, because everything should be made based on a consensual plan and a common schedule that is approved by all political forces, in full transparence with the other parliamentary and non-parliamentary parties.

“Both MPs should organize the opinions from the group, from the Socialist Party basis, from the allies of the United Opposition and the civil society. The bipartisan character of the Parliamentary Commission for the Electoral Reform should not damage the freedom and participation rights of any political or civil factor that is interested for free and honest elections in Albania”, Rama declared.

The Socialist leader declared that the parliamentary group will hand over to the Parliament what he considers the draft of amends, which, according to Rama, would turn the Parliamentary life to normality. Rama added that these changes are not related only to the Parliament regulation, but to the necessity of making an institutional reform for the working procedure of this institution. Despite the cooperative tones, the opposition leader declared that this doesn’t mean that the Socialist Parliamentary group will vote the laws that demand a qualified majority without having a clear program beforehand”.

“We will not vote non harmonized drafts without a solid vision for constructing and making the Albanian state work, and we will not raise the green card only for the eyes of Brussels, with law patches and call them integration reforms. We will vote project that require qualified majority only for clear, national and transparent platforms for the indispensable reformation of our justice system, security etc., all of them focused on the EU integration standards”, Rama declared.

The Socialist Leader Edi Rama did not leave without underlining the necessity for a constitutional reform. As he said in the meeting with the Italian and Greek Foreign Ministers, he expressed the opposition’s stance regarding the election of the new Bank of Albanian Governor, the Supervisory Council and the Supreme State Audit.
