SP: NCRT Chairman to be discharged

The opposition MPs at the Commission of Media and Education asked for
the Chairman of the National Council of Radio and Television to be
discharged for abuses and for law violation.

“The Chairman gave a concrete example of how they act selectively, by including Top Channel in the list of those operators that do not pay taxes. An institution that has problems for implementing the law and the tasks of the EU progress report; an institution that has not fulfilled the same Parliamentary tasks that have been given each year, does not deserve to be voted for the resolution, and the only way is to discharge the leader and create a new and efficient council that serves only impartially and professionally”, declared the Chairwoman of the Commission, Valentina Leskaj.

“Let us talk about our responsibilities and not use matters that are not up to us for public consumption. Let us pass a better law and complete the council, since these are the two basic problems that we have”, Strazimiri declared.

MP Alfred Dalipi presented a full file, a 600.000 EUR project sponsored by the Danish government for the NCRT in 2002. It was technical equipment installed on a vehicle that served to measure frequencies and fight piracy.

“This is a power abuse, a financial abuse, when you mention how much the equipment has cost, because this equipment was produced by request of the Albanian authorities. I can only say that the spectrum analyzer and the appliance that measures the frequencies go to 200 million ALL. These are nowhere to be found, and the car is not there. And you cannot justify it by saying that it was removed because it spent too much oil, because these are technological equipments. I will add this to the discharge request, for financial abuses”, declared the Socialist MP, Alfred Dalipi.

The NCRT chairman, Endira Bushati, declared that the appliances installed on a car that has made only 9000 km are completely dismantled and the equipment doesn’t work. She added that the abuse was made since 2002.

“We have established a working group for verifying the value of this equipment and who is responsible about it. The cost of the car is 600.000 EUR and only the manual cost 60 million ALL. Do you know any equipment that has a manual that costs 60 million ALL? This has happened with the NCRT of 2002. The vehicle is not for transport, and the technical director has never moved it. The car has made only 9000 km”, Bushati explained.

Dalipi asked specific data for the car, sponsored by the Danish government, which was functional until 2009.

“This vehicle was very important; it was the government’s eye on the terrain, and the last reports have derived from it in 2008. You shouldn’t abuse in front of the commission”, Dalipi declared.

The Commission asked a full report about the technical situation of this equipment, while the majority MPs voted the NCRT resolution.
