After the Minister of Defense presented the situation of the Albanian
Army, the Socialist MP, Pirro Lutaj, declared that NATO expressed its
reserves about the Albanian army in their last meeting.
“Although everything was harmonized by the legal point of view, we cannot hear you from here and take it for granted that your actions are harmonized with the NATO actions. Such are the constant and flagrant violations with the promotions, payments and nominations, and people who are not hired but they get paid, or people who are hired and do not get paid”, Lutaj declared.
What the opposition called as remarks from the NATO meeting, Imami considered as recommendations that are being reviewed by the Ministry he leads.
Imami refused to comment about the Wikileaks information, and declared that the tender for the helicopters is regular.
As for the accusations about the reforms in the army, Imami declared that Albania has more officers than soldiers.
“We have a wrong graduation structure. We have more officers than soldiers”, Imami declared.
The Minister of Defense declared that the law for the military service is in full accordance with the rules.
