SP, meeting with business

The Socialist Party continued the meeting for collecting ideas for the
program “For a National Rebirth” with the business community, in order
to support the business for recovering economy.
This meeting found the businessmen’s interest, having a wider participation than what the organizers expected. After being acquainted with the SP business proposals, the business association leaders have presented their views for the opposition’s propositions.
“The progressive tax could be implemented in the strategic sectors of Albania. The progressive tax is reasonable in the privileged sectors that have state permits and that secure profits without free competition, due to the government permits, and allows the opening of blocked markets”, declared Gjergj Buxhuku, administrator of Konfindustria.
“We incourage you for the Administrative Court law. We ask you to be attentive with this very important law for us. The business association should be a social partner of the government and opposition”, declared Luan Bregasi, President of Business Albania.
“We are very happy to hear that the reference prices will be removed. We have heard this since 2006. We have received promises even before 2005, but when we meet, we always hear the same things from the same people. This is a very difficult process”, declared Floreta Luli Faber, from the American Chamber of Commerce.
After showing his appreciation for the propositions expressed by the business representatives, Edi Rama engaged to guarantee competition based only on merits and for the construction of a public administration free of nepotism. Rama also mentioned the progressive taxation.
“We stand to these principles, but we are not a left party of dogmas, but a left party of values. What works is what should be done without being blocked in ideological trenches, whose time has gone. Without seeking for an answer today, I want to make only one question. Between a progressive and a flat tax, in the conditions when you have reference taxes, fines and an unpredictable fiscal legislation, a time that flies away in vain, an extraordinary stress for these causes, you would choose the flat tax with its hidden taxes, or a honest tax that should be accompanied with the removal of all other elements?”, Rama declared.
