SP: Maternity in Presheva

The Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, announced the initiation of a
draft-law that proposes the construction of a maternity and school at
the Presheva Commune of Albanian citizens, Serbia, funded by the
Albanian state.

“Our fellow Albanians there have an urgent need for a maternity and school. This action is for offering our solidarity”, Rama declared.

Then Rama accused the government of being 7 years late for bringing the rural development draft law in Parliament, and for copying the Socialist SP Program, which is focused on the development of the rural areas.

“Rural development is one of the main pillars of our program for the economic and social recovery of the country, while the government proposes the law for the agricultural cooperation companies. We do not oppose this law in principle, but we will insist on two important and urgent initiatives for villages: reducing the VAT for agricultural inputs and lowering the oil excise. The oil price in the rural areas is three times more expensive than 7 years ago, and 4 times more expensive than the Prime Minister’s promise to the farmers”, Rama declared.

As regards the recent debates about the replacement of MP Seseri, who has abandoned her Parliament seat, Rama declared that the Parliament Speaker is planning to rob the Socialist seat by violating democracy.

“We have asked to resolve this very clear issue for several months now, but they must not think that they will be able to impose another ballot theft, with perverse procedures like those of May 8th in Tirana. We have informed the public and the international community, and my appeal for the Prime Minister is to give up from his efforts to take the Socialist seat, and not try to open a new problem in the Parliament functionality, in a time when we must make everything possible for the EU candidate status”, Rama declared.

The Socialist leader warned Berisha that by withholding this mandate, they are causing another crisis in the Parliament functionality, while everyone must work so that Albania will be able to receive its EU candidate status.
