After the meeting of the Socialist Party leadership in Shkoder, Taulant Balla said that the SP is under constant reformation while adding that the mechanisms will be harsher for those who don’t make a clear declaration of their past, as provided by the decriminalization law.
As for the case of Valdin Pjetri, Balla said that he was voted by the citizens of Shkodra, but his personal irresponsibility led to serious consequences. The PM, according to Balla, said that the party will make harsher punishments for those who don’t declare their past properly.
The Socialist MP and former Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, said for the media that the main discussion topic of this meeting was the situation created in Shkoder after the June 30th elections.
“We discussed the situation in Shkoder after June 30th. I wrote to the party leadership. Since my delegation, in 2015, I have had the opportunity to treat several phenomena. We are a political party. In Shkoder, with the last case, we saw a reversing point. After 30 years, the SP has the chance to offer our country the best people that they have. This cannot be done by firing people who have nothing to do with the situation. We are not judges or prosecutors. We have the responsibility to treat this phenomenon. Its roots need a political reform that will bring a new system of accountability. If the responsibility for the past is individual, then it is up to us to take measures and create immunity systems. I am convinced by the contacts that I have had that we have the great responsibility to treat this phenomenon. The SP is the party of intellect. Whenever there have been mistakes, we have removed those people from our ranks”, Bushati declared.
