SP: Integration is not a lottery

By comparing the evaluation report of the European Commission about
Albania’s EU integration progress with that of Montenegro, SP underlined
its concern that Albania might face a third failure for the EU
candidate status this autumn.
MP Ditmir Bushati, at the same time Chairman of the Parliamentary Commission of Integration, blamed Prime Minister Berisha as the responsible for the failure to fulfill the minimal standards listed by the European Commission for Albania.
“It is clear that Sali Berisha has chosen his adventurous fantasies of the Silky Way that leads to the East, rather than Albania’s western road. This has been expressed in the political, economic and financial decisions that Berisha has taken so far, avoiding the road of Europe. There is no doubt that Albania lost the EU candidate status on the last year due to the murder of four innocent opposition protesters on Tirana’s main boulevard, and because they stole the elections. This year, Berisha is persistently following the same path by appointing his Interior Minister as President. The European Integration is not a lottery, and Berisha cannot gamble the European fate of the Albanians”, Bushati declared.
Bushati underlined that it is time for Berisha to contribute with actions rather than blaming the opposition for his failures.
