Linda Rama: Between Family, Work and Albania’s Future Socialist MP, Saimir Tahiri, sent an open letter to the Minister of
Economy, Trade and Energy, Edmond Haxhinasto, asking him to explain the
situation of the Bulqize Mine, with the Austrian ACR Company selling the
license to businessman Saimir Mane.
“The company that exploited the Bulqize mine, which profited billions without fulfilling the investment plan, has sold the permit and left the country with millions of EUR in profits, leaving behind the miners who are working in the same backbreaking conditions”.
Tahiri reminded Mr.Haxhinasto that the former Minister, Genc Ruli, signed an agreement within 24 hours that allowed ACR to postpone the payment of fines. “The agreement never passed in parliament, as the law required. ACR left without paying the fines and taking colossal profits, by not making the investments and not paying the fines”.
According to Tahiri, the fate of companies that exploit the Bulqize chrome remains the same. The same thing was done by DARFO and the others. All these companies exploit the mineral, profit billions and make no investments, don’t pay the fines and just go away.
“Chrome, our biggest national asset, remains uncontrolled and exploited by the next tutor”, Saimir Tahiri declared.
Facing this situation, Tahiri addressed 9 questions to Minister Haxhinasto, asking the documentation that proves the financial guarantees of the new company that is taking the concession, and the concessionary agreement passed in Parliament, including the documentation that proves that the new company fulfils the conditions of the investor: the practice of transferring the concessionary licence from ACR to the new one; the realization of investments by ACR, and if they have paid the former fines from July 1st 2009 to December 31st 2012, and the total chrome that they have produced during this period.
