SP: Government failed with property

The Socialist Party says that the government has failed with the
property issue, which is one of the 12 key priorities of Albania’s EU
integration.
The head of the Working Group at the Socialist Party, Merita Qato, declared that the SP is creating the national plan and that the property should be recognized to all legal owners.
“The government has failed, because we have 7.000 files for which there has been no decision from the Commission of Property Return, we have no clear economic bill about the government’s obligation to return the property and compensate the former owners. We have no clear evidence about the number of requests, and the number of decisions given by the Commission of Property Return, and the number of requests. We can say that the process has failed, by seeing to aspects. The first is related with the owners. These have been called ‘the former owners’ for the last 20 years. Our program clearly states that they will be owner, not ‘former’ any more, because they have all the rights to enjoy their property title”, declared the Head of the Work Group for the Properties at the SP, Merita Qato.
