The Socialist Party declared that the increased criminality is a tragic
proof that the state has collapsed. Socialist MP Taulant Balla declared
that 500 citizens have been murdered and injured in the last three
months, by accusing the Prime Minister, the Interior Minister and the
State Police Directors.

“500 people have been injured and have died by crime and accidents. This is the most dramatic proof that Berisha and his militants that lead the Interior Ministry and the State Police have totally failed to guarantee the safety of the life and property of the Albanian citizens. The murders, the injuries, the violent robberies, the theft of cars, power transformers, of train binaries and the armed robberies against shops and banks have turned in real epidemics. These and the tons of drugs that are identified each month are facts that clearly show that the law and order in Albania has collapsed. Sali Berisha’s state has collapsed in front of the crime. The Interior Minister is attacking the opposition and saying that they have taken all measures for preventing crime. But you can tell that Flamur Noka cannot fill the Interior Minister’s chair, hence we are making Berisha responsible today”, Balla declared.

By commenting the work of the state police, Balla declared that they have lost the citizens’ trust because they have turned in a shelter of party militants and individuals with a criminal past, rather then serving to the citizens.

“Berisha must explain what achievements in the war against crime keep his bodyguard, Agron Kulici, still in the leadership of the police? How can the criminals fear a police whose high rank officials have accused the Prime Minister, the Interior Minister that now has become president, together with the General State Police and his vice, for direct connections with criminl groups? Berisha and Flamur Noka say that 88% of the murders have been resolved, including the cases when the criminals have turned themselves in. But 12% of the crimes, and especially the most serious ones, are still unsolved”, Balla declared.

Balla illustrated the situation of the State Police with some unsolved crimes, such as the murder of Fatmir Xhindi, the head of the commune Remzi Veseli and judge Skerdelajd Konomi.
