SP: Berisha to be blamed for blocked status

The Socialist Party says that the official stance of the Dutch
government about the conditions that Albania must fulfil for receiving
the status, prove the position that they have created for the unrealized
conditions of the Albanian government.

Ditmir Bushati, head of the European Integration Commission says that this denies the abusive campaign of Prime Minister Berisha, who blames the opposition for blocking the integration process.

“The reason for the blocking is the government of Berisha. The stance of the Dutch government confirms for the Albanian citizens the concerns raised by the opposition for the real reasons that blocked he candidate status, which are not related with the opposition but with the corruption, the cementing of impunity and the organized crime that now is a threat for the entire society, for the rule of law and elections in full accordance with the international standards”. Bushati declared.

Besides Netherlands, the concerns have been addressed by a series of other countries that have a specific weight in the EU, according to Bushati.

“Some of these countries declared that the rule of law is the basic word in the progress report and the joint concern of the main EU countries”, Bushati declared.

The Chairman of the Integration Commission declared that the chances are still there to receive the status on December, but the remaining time should serve as a reflection for the Prime Minister, not only for unblocking the Fier situation, but also for telling the member countries Albania’s readiness to implement the law.

“Albania doesn’t have new conditions. Albania has 12 priorities to fulfil. These 12 priorities have not been fulfilled especially for corruption and organized crime, two elements related with the three remaining laws. The proposition of the EC doesn’t have only the three laws, but also the report that the European Council would make to the member countries before their decision regarding the corruption area and organized crime. These are part of the 12 priorities and are not coming out of the blue”, Bushati declared.
