Despite the debates at the meeting of the Parliamentary Investigative Committee on the interventions in the TIMS border data system, in the end the SP in power and the opposition DP have approved by consensus the list of witnesses that will be called for this investigation, which does not include Prime Minister Edi Rama and former interior minister Bledi Çuçi, as formerly requested.
Earlier, the majority and the opposition did not initially agree on the time that should be given to the experts for the drafts of the investigation plan, while Tonin Gogu of the SP addressed DP’s Ervin Salianji saying that he took the time that was available only for making accusations.
Then Salianji put the SP expert’s draft to vote, but the majority did not support it.
Excerpts from the debates:
Salianji: Don’t do these things here because I lead the gathering… Jump up as much as you want. Did we agree when the adjournment was called to give time to the experts today and then meet for a vote? Now solve it. Today is May 8, and there is time until 00:00. Did we agree? Why do you change it?
Gogu: We agreed, and make no mistake it was 13:00. Since then, it is now 14:40, so much more time has passed than the experts asked for. Either we’ll give the experts time, or we’ll go to the vote now, or you take back all the accusations you’ve made, because it seems you have another agenda and not the agenda of this investigation.
Salianji: I will stick only to this procedural proposal. No, I didn’t even take 10 minutes of the time, all colleagues together… after the drafts were read, we agreed to take a vote. Now you changed it. Ok, let’s go to the vote.
