The opposition supported the international community appeal that the
Electoral College must act independently and far from political
pressures.

The Socialist Deputy Ditmir Bushati said that the Electoral College must put in place the justice that was infringed by the four CEC members.

“The Electoral College has the obligation towards Albanians and international partners of putting justice in place, where the four Democratic Party representatives of the Central Election Commission infringed every law and democratic norm”, Bushati declared.

According to him, this was the appeal that the international community made to the Electoral College.

“The Socialist Party joins the appeal of the international community, that Electoral College must be led only by law and must not surrender in front of governmental pressures”, Bushati added.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party asked to avoid political pressures on the Electoral College, and that the Socialists should wait the decision and respect it.

“We agree with the Socialist Party that the EU integration process of Albania is vital, while the legal process for the narrow result is still undergoing. We want to remind the Socialist Party that Europe doesn’t want to see who won or who lost, but if the electoral process was held with honesty, transparency and according the law”, declared the Spokesperson Jorida Tabaku.

“Every declaration of the international community emphasized the necessity of taking decisions based on law. The Democratic Party believes on the Albanian Constitutions and International Laws which say that every vote is equal and every vote must be valued as it should. Why is Edi Rama trying to create troubles on this case, instead of accepting that he fears the respecting of these principles? He fears the decisions of the independent institutions, he fears the complete counting of every ballot, hearing the voice of every citizen”, she continued.
