One day after the environmentalists reacted for the trees that were cut
at the National Park of the Artificial Lake in Tirana, the Socialist
councilors of the Tirana Municipality have reacted.
They condemn the tree cuttings and reminded the Mayor that he promised a green Tirana in the electoral campaign, while he is causing an environmental damage without notifying anyone.
“There is a great concern among the Albanian citizens and the environmentalist organizations regarding the massacre that took place at the Natinal Park of the Tirana Artificial Lake, where thousands of square meters have been destroyed within one night. We ask the Mayor of Tirana to come with a public announcement, to make transparency and explain on what legal bases they have taken this decision. On what basis did they undertake this illegal action? We ask the Tirana Prosecution to start the investigations”, declared the Socialist Group of Councilors leader, Aldrin Dalipi.
The Tirana Municipality explained that the trees were cut for widening the Elbasan Street, but Socialist Councilors Gent Gazheli and Florian Pullazi say that no decision has been approved for the works to start, and especially for cutting the trees, which demands a special status in this park.
