Softer charges for Durres Gang

The amends of the Penal Code since 1995 and after, a period in which
there are 17 defendants accused for several crimes, known as the Durres
Gang, has obliged the prosecutors to change the accusations for all
defendants.
In the last session, the prosecutors announced the change of the accusations starting from Lulzim Berisha and Indrit Dokle, to the penitent and justice collaborator, Adriatik Coli.
The Prosecution declared that since the law differs from now and the time when the crime is committed, the Criminal Code provides that there should be implemented the law that mostly favors the defendants. More specifically, for Lulzim Berisha, accused of many murders for revenge and interests of street gangs, the charges for premeditated murder will change into murder, which has a softer penalty.
The same argumentation was given by the prosecutor for the other defendants. They also withdrew some murder attempt charges on Adriatik Coli, drug traffic charges for Indrit Dokle and creation of criminal organization charges against Indrit Taullai.
